BOWLS AND PLATTERS

Ad This gorgeous burr bowl is ;possibly apple, cannot be 100% sure but with this sort of texture and figuring it doesn't matter. Both practical for smaller items and highly decorative it is a very  individual and unique piece of art as well as being useful. Finished with a hard wax (carnauba) polish for easy maintenance . It measures 11 3/4" (300mm) long x 6 1/2" (165mm) x 3 1/2" (90mm) roughly and has a small blackthorn foot lifting it up slightly. 

This gorgeous 20cm bowl is made from lime. It has been turned by Pete and the art work designed and created by Mo. The design is  hand drawn then pyrographed. Mo uses calligraphy inks which behave on the wood the same way as water colours do on a canvas. The bowl has sycamore leaves with seed pods arranged around the rim. Amongst these you will find a tiger moth, a woolly bear caterpillar  

(larvae of the moth) as well as a bee and a ladybird. An incredible piece that will adorn any decor 

 This is a sycamore bowl that has been hand drawn, pyrographed and painted by Mo. It has then been finished with a very hard wax polish to ensure stability and ease of maintenance, Overall diasmeter is 250mm ( 9.75") with a 135mm (5.75")bowl central. A lovely decorative and practical bowl, small enough to fit any side table or hall stand.  This lovely bowl is quite deep at b 3" (75mm) and is just under 7" (170mm) diameter. It has some lovely spalting of various types as seen in the images giving

 This beautifully decorated bowl has 8 butterflies, all accurately portrayed, hand drawn, pyrographed and coloured around its rim. (The names of the butterflies are all on the reverse for identification) It measures 15 1/2" (395mm) diameter overall and the inner bowl is 11 1/2" (290mm) diameter. It has been finished with a hard wax polish to enable frequent handling and ease of maintenance.

This one ios made of ycamore and the design has been hand drawn, pyrographed and then, in the case of the dragonfly, been painted with an irridescent ink giving it the same sort of effect as senn on dragonflies.  This bowl looks back at those childhood books we used to read. Toadstools, little creatures, fairies. All here. It has been designed and drawn freehand initially then pyrographed and coloured with a combination of inks and acrylics giving different effects and textures. A truly one of a kind piece. It measures an overall diameter of 17 1/2" (445mm) and the interior bowl is  9 1/4" (235mm) It has been finished with a hard wax polish that gives a finish that can be handled and easily maintained

As with all the decorated work it is a one of a kind pi3ece and will not be repeated. It has been finished with a hard wax polish allowing tit to be dusted and kept clean.  There really are Mot mot birds.  I had to look themn up tpo make sure LOL. Bit of artistic licence as they don't normally live where magnolias are native but stil;l look great on this bowl. It has all been hand drawn and designerd then burnt and finally coloured with various inks and acryllics. The outside diameter is 1`7 1/2" (445mm) and the inner bowl ism 7" (180mm) diameter. It has been finished with a hard wax polish for ease of maintenance whether used as a centre piece on a table or as a 

This bowl is a beautiful example of zentangles. Made of sycamore and finished with a hard wax polish it is both decorative and practical. Not too big at 10" diameter it is one that would fit into almost any décor. 

 This  bowl is made from english elm and has been ebonised on the outside leaving the inside to contrast with it's beautiful grain. Around the outside are genuine pearl cabochons and four carnelian ones for contrast. It measures 170mm (6 3/4") diameter and inside depth is approx 55mm (2 1/4") The pearls are set into a raised, dark red band and the main body outside has been textured, again to contrast with the inside. Both practical; and decorative, will suit any decor classic or contemporaray 

 Not all bowls need to be huge to be both attractive and useful. This little bowl is made from field maple with just a little bit of spalting and has a band of sisal set into the outside. I love mixing media like this. It measures just170mm (6 3/4" diameter and is approx 50mm (1 3/4" deep. Finished with a hard wax polish for durability I am sure it will soon be filled with things by its new owner.

 A small coin bowl ideal for keys small items of jewellery etc. The  iridescent paint colours shimmer in different depths as you move the bowl around in different lights. Approx 165mm X 30mm. It is finished in a hard wax polish for ease of maintenence.    

 A lovely little Macassar ebony bowl. Ideal for the hall table or bedroom as a coin, key or other small objects. Finished with a hard wax polish to ensure easy maintenance it measures 4 1/4" (115mm) diameter.

This highlights the natural defect making it a feature according to the Japanese art.  

 This little bowl (140mm (5") diameter and 80mm (3") deep has some spalting and also has several incised grooves decoreating the exterior. It is a lovely practical little bowl that wouild happily sit and soon get filled in any decor in the housde. It has been finished with a hard wax polish for easeof maintenance  

 This bowl, made from sycamore has been turned off centre giving it a quirky lkook and feel The interior bowl measures3 1/2" (90mm) diameter whilst the overall diameter is 7 1/4" (185mm) diameter. Ideal as a coin boil or for tyhe keyes and other odds and ends we all end up wityh. It has been finished with a hard wax polish to ensure easy maintenance. 

 This platter measures 290mm (11.5") diameter (interior diameter 190mm) and is made from ash. It has been both stained and textured highlighting the grain. Finished with a hard wax polish it is an ideal platter for bread, biscuits etc in the centre of a table or of course for the oproverbial dump for keys, loose chgange etc.  

 This unusual platter is made from a slice of hawthorn and has been made to rest onthree ebony button feet. It measures approx 255mm (10") by 230mm (9") in a shape totally distated by the wood. It has a few brass inclusions, kinsugi style and is finished with a hard wax polish.It is food safe and copuld be used as a fruit platter or even a novel cheese board if wished.  

 This gorgeous example of a rustic yew platter is one for the lover of natural wood. It has been carefully turned from a piece of yew that many would have discarded. All the fissures and splits that have naturally occurred have been filled kinsugi style with brass and whilst perhaps no good for soup it makes an interesting piece for smaller fruit. and all the ods and ends one tends to collect. It has been finished with a hard wax poilsh giving it an easily maintained finish. It measures165mm (6.
